L’amore va oltre le distanze

Do you have a boyfriend in your home country and do you think that you are not courageous enought to leave to the States because of the distance? Well you should read Jessica’s story!

Hi,
my name is Jessica but here, in America, all people call me Jess.
So, I’m jess, I’m 22 years old and I live in California. I arrived in “Los Gatos” (the name of the city) 4 months ago. This is a beautiful place about 50min to san Francisco and 30 minutes from the beautiful beach of Santa Cruz (I call this place a corner of paradise!
Let’s talk about my experience here!20140108_144600Do you have a boyfriend in your home country and do you think that you are not courageous enought to leave to the States because of the distance? Well you should read Jessica’s story!

I remember the day of my departure, it was so hard to say “goodbye” to my family and especially to my boyfriend (yes, I have a boyfriend in Italy, and I think that my experience is more difficult for this reason!). The day of my departure it was the worst day of my life! Terrible!!!
The first few days in NY at orientation were horrible!!! I cried every day! At the end of this 4 days, I felt a little bit better but… It was only the beginning!
When I arrived in Los Gatos everything looked perfect, the family was perfect, only one child… NO! When I began working it was horrible!
I had a lot of responsibilities, I worked all day, the child cried always and I missed my boyfriend. I felt alone in a foreign county…

My “beginning” wasn’t easy but after the 1 month… everything changed! I mean, I decided to change: I learned to comprehend and understand the behaviors of my child and now he loves me and I love him! I started to use my free time. I met a lot of au pairs and other people and I realized that… I’m lucky, I’m living my American dream, my host family is beautiful, I have a lot of friends, this is not a simple experience.
Au pairs need a lot of patience and courage, but this can be the best experience of your life!

I want to say to all future au pairs that the life of an au pair is a very hard life, there will be hard days, but you must be strong, go out with your friends, if you don’t have friends you can find them on Facebook, there are a lot of “au pairs groups”, or you can ask to your agency, go to the GYM, go to the park. You can do whatever you want but don’t stay at home to use Skype, ok? =)
America is outside and it is waiting for you!

See you in America girls!
Jess

Un pensiero su “L’amore va oltre le distanze

  1. Jess ha detto:

    Ciao!
Sono Jess volevo aggiungere che ho la fortuna di vedere il mio fidanzato ogni 3mesi. Quindi ci siamo visti a new york per uno splendido San Valentino insieme (incontrarci a meta strada..circa !
